The Last Man On Earth “Screw the Moon” Review (1×13)

“I want to be with the man who doesn’t have the heart to go through with it.”

Phil Miller’s (Tandy’s) characterization has been shaky the entire season, oftentimes relying on him being a full-on asshole in order to wring comedy out of various situations. Recently, however, the show’s been improving upon the writing of his character, and that’s on full display in “Screw the Moon”, the funny and satisfying season one finale. It’s a great way to end the season, and it certainly has me looking forward to season two.

The Last Man on Earth “Alive in Tucson”/ “The Elephant in the Room” Review (1×01/1×02)

“We weren’t chosen. We were forgotten.”

The Last Man on Earth is a funny show, but the underlying mood is one of loneliness and despair, one that inevitably results when human contact eludes you at every turn. Sure, you can fill up your time with bowling ball shenanigans and Jenga tower building and margarita pools and ball companions, but at the end of the day, the lack of a human presence around you can certainly be draining and devastating.
