The world is chaotic at times. It’s messy, full of conflicting ideas and clashing goals, and these multiple sides simply can’t function in tandem when everyone has his or her agenda. So, you can either acquiesce or remain steadfast on achieving your goals before anyone else does; whichever decision you choose has its own set of consequences, its own set of moral dilemmas awash with uncertainty.

Sons of Anarchy “Black Widower” Review (7×01)

Sons-Of-Anarchy-7x01-FX-8

“I already lost the woman I love. I’m not going to lose my club.”

Going into the final season of the show, Jax Teller is no longer attempting a reinvention of any kind, no longer moving toward legitimacy or structuring a future around his wife or distancing himself from JT’s and Clay’s ideals. It’s all about vengeance now, and Charlie Hunnam portrays Jax as a hollowed-out individual, a perpetual blank stare in his eyes as he does anything from listen to a business deal go down to torture and kill one of Lin’s men.

“We made them remember.”

The Leftovers paints a picture of a broken world. It’s broken because its people are broken, and its people are broken because of their search for concrete answers in a post-Departure world. As humans, we tend to want to think in terms of black and white, of good and bad, of us and them, and it simply winds up being detrimental to the people who lost their loved ones on October 14th.  “There’s a reason for everything,” we think, and we crumble when we can’t pinpoint that reason in the sea of darkness.

Steve-Buscemi-Boardwalk-Empire-Season-5

The season premiere of the final season of Boardwalk Empire is framed by two acts of attempted reinvention, two stories about the same person in two different time periods. We have young Nucky and present-day Nucky, the former getting into the business and the latter attempting to change the business, and through flashbacks, we see just how our main character’s roots developed and why he’s at where he’s at right now.

We’re now back at the beginning of the season.

The extent of the massacre at Red Ridge View is finally seen: we end the episode with Charlotte, the DEA agents, Jamie, and a few of Galvan’s men dead, and both Hank and Cesar are wounded in one way or another; in fact, the main target of the attack, Eleanor Nacht, ends up being the one who puts the final bullets into Galvan’s man as the episode closes.

Veronica Mars “Like a Virgin”/ “Drinking the Kool-Aid” Review (1×08/1×09)

1x09VMMilking Episode 8: “Like a Virgin”

Rumors would be better off buried in some hole somewhere, but unfortunately, they spread and sully reputations quicker than you can say “Shut up, you dicks”. This is what happens here: first off, we have the lingering effects of the Lilly Kane case and the way much of Neptune views the Mars family, which, of course, plays a bit of a role in Alicia’s initial view of Keith (until Keith scares Jeremy out of the apartment).
